Fly Tying Club

flytying

Mid Clyde Angling Association run a Fly Tying Club every Thursday evening throughout the year.
Anglers come along, enjoy a tea or coffee and tie flies, or just chat with other anglers about the river and fishing.
There are members who build their own rods and the member who runs it ties Classic Salmon flies, so there is a wealth of knowledge and information in the club to pass on and learn from

The Association runs fly tying tuition for local children to encourage them into the sport.
The Fly Tying Club is held on a Thursday Evening, from 7.30-10pm at:

The Broomhouse Community Hall

2 Baillieston Rd

Glasgow, Lanarkshire

Clyde Raiders

Sizes 6 and 8

John Taylor was at the club on Thursday night demonstrating Micro Salmon Flies

Thanks to John for coming all the way from Bo’ Ness to pass on some of his skills to the guys.

Some of the flies we have been tying the past couple of months.

The first night I went to the fly tying I just watched John tying.

The second night he let me loose with a vice and went step by step with him and tied my first ever fly the result is.

After a couple more sessions  I have progressed .

Thanks to the two John’s for their patience.
